Digital Sovereignty
Threshold crossed: from consumed to sovereign.
Cheap dopamine pays the reward of achievement without the achievement.
How do you stop doomscrolling and reclaim your attention? Not with willpower but with friction. Make the loop physically effortful to reach, make the real alternative the default within arm's length, and swap one virtual interaction for a real one daily. Twenty-eight days, one witness.
Who this practice is for
The man whose attention, and often his sexuality and ambition, is being farmed by feeds, games, and porn.
Open the protocol
Name the one loop with the most grip, scroll, porn, gaming, news. State the 28-day reset to a witness. Remove the loop's easiest access path physically today: log out, delete the app, move the console, greyscale the phone.
Daily forge actions (28 days)
- Friction redesign. The loop takes effort to reach; the alternative, book, weights, craft, a call, is the default within reach.
- One embodied swap. Convert one virtual interaction into a real one: a walk, a meal, a call over a comment.
- Binary check-in. Did I stay out of the loop? Did I do the day's real thing? Did I connect with a body, not a feed?
The weekly review
When did the craving spike, and what was I actually avoiding underneath it? What did I do with the reclaimed hour? Who did I see in person?
Completion
A written review, one deliberately hard screen-free experience, a long hike, a day offline, a real gathering, and the ongoing rule you'll keep. Sovereignty is not abstinence forever; it is choosing the terms.
Your life does not need another insight. It needs a threshold.
